Hide your straps!

Last Fall, on a Sunday afternoon, before heading back to the windy south, my hubby and I went to a new mall north of Calgary. It’s called Cross Iron Mills and is a beautiful indoor mall. I LOVED the western inspired aspects that parts of the shopping center featured – I posted pictures in my Copper West blog entry.

I went into the mall needing nothing and telling myself that I was going to spend NOTHING! Well…I really need to learn the lesson of not even going into a store or mall, at that, to accomplish this.

As we explored the offering of stores, we came to a "As Seen on TV" store called Showcase. Inside, I spotted something that has intrigued me on TV for quite some time.

The BRA clip!!

I believe it’s typically been advertised for $19.99 for a box of 12 and if you’re one of the "lucky" first ___ callers – you could get 2 boxes for the price of one.

OH – how I love marketing!!

Well…it was my LUCKY day! The store was featuring this item as a Door Buster for $5!! That’s right – one $5 bill. I was always too cheap to order them off the TV, since I knew I would only need 1 – not 12. SO of course I had to pick up 2 boxes! He he… WHAT on earth was I going to do with 24 Bra Clips you ask? My husband was asking the same question!

Give them away!

I’ve used mine a couple times now, to hide my straps while wearing a dress and sleeveless top. Being honest – they are a bit challenging to get on, but serve their purpose very effectively when wearing them.

I was doing some spring cleaning tonight, came across my purchases, and realized that I still hadn’t given away these lovely inventions!! With summer right around the corner – I want them to leave my house and arrive in your hot hands.

While looking for a web link for you to learn more about them – I’ve discovered that the Smart Bra Clip is now replaced with new round ones in the market – but I still want to pay it forward.

WHO would like one?

  1. Hi Robyn, just found your blog off a friends facebook page. I’d love to enter your contest. I don’t really have any embarrasing stories, just summer is coming up and anything to help avoid the strap showing.

  2. Ok, I just wrote a long essay (sort of) style of why I’d like a bra clip…. but then I received a “connection interrupted” notice and now nothing… so if you didn’t get my last entry, this is basically what it was: (keeping with the school theme…)

MANY racerback shirts in my closet/drawers + ONE racerback bra= many lonely bras throughout the summer months that aren’t worn and one bra that desperately needs to be retired!!!

  3. Thanks divas!! Heidi – welcome to my blog – thank you SO much for entering the contest and following ;) Katie – sad to hear about the error with your first attempt – darn technology hiccups – I love your synopsis – it cracked me up!! Good luck ladies – thanks for your quick entries.

  4. Oh Robyn, I could definitely use one of these. Just last night I did the old safety-pin trick to push my straps together and hide them! I am so glad you added Google connect! I was already following, but this will make it so much easier. I wish WordPress and Blogger interacted better with each other! Have a fantastic day.

  5. I too have been tempted by this item many times but couldn’t talk myself into it for the same reasons so good on ya for finding such a great deal! What a great shopper you are. I too would love a bra clip as in the past, I’ve simply used a close pin to tie my bra together and it is not comfy or flattering….but it worled. Thanks for the fun contest Robyn!

  6. Hey Rob – I’m going to second Crystal, it was just last weekend I did the “safety pin” trick to hide my straps!

I just love your posts, they make me laugh everytime I come to read!!

  7. Oh! Oh! Pick me! Me! Me! I love those racer back shirts but never buy them for this reason! And I must say my shoulder blades rock. (Besides that, these shirts hide my broken collar bone from a few years back. Soo sexy.) My job is labourous so I wear a tank every day – even winter. I feel so classless when they hang out! (The bra straps I mean!!!) (!!!)

  8. Hey Robyn! Love this post and these bra clips are a must – where have they been all our lives?! I have never seen these before (I’m not afraid to admit that I’m sometimes ‘out of the loop’ on this sort of thing)! I could really use a bra clip – mostly b/c my Mom and I just got back from a shopping trip down in Minot, North Dakota and there were several items I didn’t even try on b/c I knew my bra straps would show and that annoys me! Ahhh, can’t believe there is something out that could prevent this tragedgy from happening….and just to think all of the cute summer shirts and dresses out there and no more “leaving it on the rack to find something different that doesn’t show bra straps”!

Thank you for sharing this post! :) Damien had a chance to check out the Cross Iron Mills mall before Christmas last year and he still talks about that mall! So I’m thinking if a guy is still talking about a mall, it must have been quite something, hehe. I’d love to visit that mall sometime!

  9. Robyn! I’ve always eyed this particular piece… Wondering if it actually did what the TV stated it could and would for me! I, like many of the other ladies have said, have many racerbacks, hate my straps showing, and have tried other means of hiding my straps… (I have not done the safety pin trick, but I have taped them together before!)
I have been following your blog for awhile, but now I’m following with Google Connect!
    Have a great day! :)

  10. Hey Robyn, I too love these fantastic bra clips! I used to have about 5 of them and used them all the time, used to is the key word, I seem to have misplaced these within the last few years and now have 0 :( . Well I would of course love to get a clip since they just make getting dressed up for the summer that much more enjoyable!
As always I love following your blog, especially your series Swept off My Feet by a Texan!! I’m very anctiouse for the next segment :)
    Lots of Love
    Bianca

  11. Hey Robyn!

I Have never really had a bra strap malfunction… that i can remember anyway! I have had bra malfunctions… Including a recent episode where i was running and after I finished my interval I noticed that my bra (an old one that no longer really fits) had slipped up and was no longer holding anything but my neck! NO WONDER I WAS HAVING SUCH A BAD RUN! lol. Thought i would share my WONDERFUL MOMENT!

Anyway those bra clips look AWSOME! I have been think about what i want to wear this summer and a neat clip like that may help expand my options!

    Luv ya!

    Lyndsay

    Have a great day!

  12. Came across your site on Facebook… its fabulous!!!!!! Judging by your site, you really are an amazing woman.

One of my biggest pet peeves is bra straps showing… these little clips would be wonderful for me, in the past I have used hair elastics, safety pins and tape to hide my straps!!!!

Hope you have a great day….

  13. Hi Robyn

My story is more about an bra. I had to work on July 1st one year and convinced Rob to meet me at the parade. I found him on main street talking to some new ppl to the community. Just as the Parade was starting I noticed something tucked in the hood of the hoodie he was wearing, it was a dryer sheet …..with a black lace bra attached to it. We all had a good laugh as I quickly tucked it into my pocket. Glad he didn’t go to the beer gardens before the parade.

  14. Deanne – I know I have never met you before, but your story absolutely made my week!! Oh did I get a good chuckle out of that! Thanks for sharing that :)

  15. Hi Robyn
I don’t wear many revealing things anymore, too much up front, but I am guilty of wearing my bras til they fall apart. Currently, my left strap on 2 of my bras is always falling down because the elastic is pushed to the limit. One of these contraptions would solve my problem until I find my next favorite style of bra for the girls!!
I must say though, very clever the person who invented this, obviously a women on a mission!
