Educating!

I always wanted to be a teacher when I was growing up! When really young, I used to play school with my sister and brother!! I would make them sit in my classroom, do school work, and I called my students – Sue & Fred – the names have stuck and they both still respond to their nicknames!

I recently found a way to satisfy the teacher in me and continue giving back to the Agriculture industry with the Classroom Agriculture Program!

Most people take 1 or 2 classes for their first year of volunteering, however my friend Heather and I each jumped in with 7 classes! We’re hoping the teachers from the schools with a couple classes will combine the students, so we can leverage our time for the hour interactive presentation! I’m very excited to help educate the young Agriculture consumers.

As I develop my cirriculum, I’ll be sure to let you know how my adventure goes!! If you’d like to also help educate the 17,000 Alberta students that are registered for the program, please check out the Alberta Beef website OR check out the Facebook group. I love doing my part as a volunteer and helping shape youth!
