Can we please have a discussion about facial hair and waxing??
Yes, you read correctly!!
It’s been brought to my attention that I should consider waxing some lovely upper lip hair! Well, no one blatantly told me – I may have been curious and “asked” a close friend to shed her opinion.
In particular the hair is more noticeable in my dimples / smile lines!
I get my eye brows waxed – not regularly – but whenever I’m at the right place at the right time and remember.
To be completely honest, I’m scared that if I do get my upper lip hair – that is barely dark – it will grow in THICK and dark!!!
Are you willing to share any insight with me?? I would really appreciate it!!
Another friend was telling me about her recent experience with threading. Have you tried that?
Why you may ask am I blogging about this? Because I think that being confident and always holding ourselves accountable to our personal appearance, both contribute to living an amazing life!
Look forward to your opinions and advice!!

Since this is my profession, I feel confident in telling you what I tell other people pondering the same thing. Once you start you will feel the need to continue with waxing. If it is only alot of blonde fuzz you will notice it more as it grows back and then be more self conscious of it. It will not grow back in worse you just notice it that much more. As we age and hormones change unfortunatly we can start to get dark coarse hair places we never had before. Even after pregnancy this can happen. So you just need to decide how bothered you are by it… Hope this answers the question
Don’t wax – bit the bullet and get it lasered. The daerk hairs will be killed and leave the little blonde hairs alone. It’s way more natural looking than waxing – doesn’t leave the bald patch on your face that foundation won’t stick too.
Laser would be great, but we can’t all afford that. I say, wax away sister! I’ve been waxing my lip every 1-2 months for YEARS…and I’m only 24! I have super dark, wirey curly hair so it really is a necessity. It hurts and kind of tingles and will make your eyes water but it is so.worth.it. The hair eventually does thin out a bit the more you do it. Some say I’m a little obsessed with waxing. I do love it in a strange way. If you’re ever feeling adventurous, try waxing your armpits! Yes, I know. It really doesn’t hurt as bad as you think it would. And when you have dark hair like mine, it’s wonderful not to see the hair before it grows above the skin!
This hits close to home! I had my lip waxed without my consent.. apparently he couldn’t understand English very well. It has been about a month and I had been a bit self conscious about my lip hair. The hair hasn’t grown back any darker and it has made me not worry about it any more. I think it’s worth it and I still don’t have to get it waxed for another month I would think.
Hi Robyn,
From the photo you posted I don’t see a problem. What ever you decide please never use a chemical hair remover. I did and the damage it did to my skin is probably irreversible. Good luck with your research.
Wax away sista, but only if you think you NEED to! In my personal experience it doesn’t come back thicker or darker. Love the spontaneity here :)
If you feel you need to – wax way! I do – but have considered laser! It’s a bit more expensive but hopefully worth in the long run! o have never noticed you need to, and most people say the same about me, do whatever makes you feel good!!
Wax away!!! Dont ever use cream hair removals. It did permanent damage to my skin darkening my skin making it look like a mustache. This is un reversible. I’ve tried bleach…lemon, sugar and anything you can think of.:( so wax away or save foR laser. Good luck
