Planning!

I’m about 13 months away from my big 3-0 Birthday!! My wonderful friend Twila had a 30th Birthday bash with a “Slogan Tshirt” theme. I had a shirt made that said “amazing“!! The evening was fabulous – with a band, snacks, bar, dancing and tons of fun!

I’ve been thinking a lot about having a party in celebration of this milestone also! Initially I thought I wanted a surprise Birthday! I LOVE surprises…I told my husband this,

“I’d LOVE for you to have a Surprise 30th Birthday Party for me!” I exclaimed

“It isn’t a surprise if you know about it!?” was his lame response

“Well, you have over a year to plan it – so it will be a surprise!” I replied

Then I started to think – maybe I don’t want a surprise. I’m a planner and like to be involved in the details. With Event Coordinator/Planner experience, I’ve become a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to event details! I want to be part of who is invited, etc.

So now, I’m dreaming up what an “ideal” 30th Birthday party looks like to me…

Today I got inspired by a gorgeous wedding that I came across online!! (Thanks to The Farmers Trophy Wife for including one of Bailey’s pics in her Color post). Bailey the bride, has a blog called Peppermint Bliss. There were 3 parts to her wedding and each had their own theme and were decorated extravagantly!! Clearly my wedding budget was much smaller than this gorgeous lady.

I found this cool picture collages of their wedding on Style Me Pretty. They have thousands of really neat Inspiration Boards!

Her Welcome Reception was western themed:

The Wedding had a rustic, outdoor feel:

AND my favorite the “Willa Wonka-meets-Alice in Wonderland” inspired After Party with outrageously beautiful colors!!!!

Enjoy checking out their pictures!

Back to planning my bash in my mind…What do you think I should do? Have you ever planned your own Birthday party? What theme would you go with?

Cheers,

Fireworks

This is a random blog about my LOVE for fireworks!! Please bare with me – it was inspired by watching them go off on New Years Eve on television.

I have always LOVED fireworks! One of my dreams was to have them at my wedding. When I announced my desire to my Dad, his response was, “Why? You’re going to make your own after the wedding”…thanks Dad!

In a box of cards I bought a couple years ago, came a funky Fireworks designed one. I haven’t sent it to anyone, instead it is part of my collection! I came across it yesterday when I was doing some office cleaning.

One of my sisters favorite music artists is Katy Perry. You may recall me mentioning OR read it in my book – that I don’t listen to music lyrics very often. I’m more of a beat person and tap my foot before focusing on the words of the song. I came across this video and discovered what the song was about (I’m a bit slow)!

Fireworks by Katy Perry

This story of how they made the video is really cool – check it out HERE! I love how transparent and how real Katy seems in this video.

Watching these videos give me butterflies. I can’t wait to bring together amazing people from my network – to create something phenomenal like this!

Do YOU like Fireworks?

Happy New Year,

What do you collect?

Do you have a prized collection of something? (Please share with us!)

I’ve never “collected” anything long enough to talk about and my husband refuses to let me become a pack rat (like my ___   … no comment, don’t want to get into trouble or bring on a baby…oops did I give out a hint!)

However – I think I have a new interest…it differs greatly from what I used to think.

A bit of background information: My mother drug me (kicking and screaming…of course) to the store to register for wedding gifts nearly three years ago. She had a mission, that she never disclosed before entering the store. My sweet Mom was determined to get us registered for crystal stemware and fine china, that she could proudly tell my extended family we would love to add to our life. I nicely told her that we were not interested in these two luxuries. We preferred realistic, use everyday items that have both class and durability. You may not know this yet, but I’m a klutz, therefore these items had to withstand my graceful actions. Who won you ask? My Mom – that day!

My extremely involved husband was keen to see what we’d registered for, so I showed him online. He started laughing! I couldn’t understand what was so entertaining. My man replied, “We are registered for the exact same pattern that your Mom AND Grandma have!” Yes, yes we were.

Inside joke. If you don’t know where something is in our home, particularly our kitchen. John asks himself,
“Where can it be found in “Ronda’s (my Mom)” house?”

We ended up removing these specific items from our registry the next day. Not out of spite or to be disrespectful for my Mom’s time. It was simply a realization that John and I wanted to discover our own taste.

A discussion that my darling hubby and I have quite often (sorry if I’m offending you), is our pet peeve of those that save their fine china and special crystal for special occasions. To us, everyday is a special occasion and as you’ve probably read in other posts, we toast a few days a week and say “Here’s to ___ (Tuesday, life, new contract, nice weather…whatever)!” We were blessed with amazing gift cards for our wedding and picked out new dinnerware. We ended up buying a wicked box set of china – that has a simple silver circle around the outside and we put it in the dishwasher! We also found a box set of wine glasses at Costo. ACTION STEP:John and I’s goal was to use our a gorgeous white platinum bone china set and fabulous huge crystal wine goblets at least weekly.

Valentines Day 2009

We have stuck by our word. This picture was captured on a Saturday afternoon, in the middle of a cleaning bee that my amazing hubby and I were having! Pull out your china and crystal and use them tonight! Why not?

Oh, back to the reason why I started writing this blog entry! I got slightly sidetracked ;)

On Saturday morning, I received this fabulous email from my creative, thoughtful friend Laura:

“In case you hadn’t been on PW today — these reminded me of us and I love them! I’m trying to stop the internal fight with myself to buy them… OMG they are beautiful! http://thepioneerwoman.com/homeandgarden/2009/06/china-check-tracy-porter-vivre/

I was laughing SO hard at this point…THEN…I clicked the link

(Be sure to check out PW’s blog – to see the gorgeous pictures she took of her Tracy Porter “Vivre” Dinnerware)

I have fallen in LOVE with these dishes. They are perfect for a diva date or just because…you can always find a use for these (I’m talking myself into collecting something)! Mmm…hint, hint, nudge, nudge John – you’re always looking for gift giving ideas (love your amazing wife)!

To a fabulous day (thanks Laura for the smile!),

Texas Wishes

Before I left for Texas, just over a month ago – I ran a contest for photo ideas in my Texas Bound post! I am going to debut a few more pictures from our trip and hopefully satisfy a few requests. Thanks ladies for your input and for following my blog!

1. Lacy Rowan “pics of nature blossoming”

This is probably one of my favorite pictures from our trip – I love Bluebonnets (official Texas flower)! Have a fabulous time in Texas Lacy – showing off Zane!

2. Deanne  ”I suggest that you start taking creative pictures….John at his old school playground, rustic ranch pictures, A day in the life of the Beazley Family (Texas Style). ”

Fabulous idea Deanne, thanks for the tips! I tried a couple of your setting ideas, but picked this one to report back to you ;) John loves to cook and is all about presentation in everything he prepares. This quaint store was full of condiments that you could try and was decorated with a country, western flair! John was so much fun to watch explore and he kept saying – oh, try this one or oh, look at this!

3. Kattie  ”happy couple in a special way. Like taking a picture of the groom when everyone is looking at the bride or taking a picture during a special moment in their new life together.”

I had a lot of fun with this one! I tried to get their faces when the bride was coming down the aisle and the groom’s reaction, but that didn’t turn out. However – a memory that will stay with me forever was the fact that my sister-in-love wanted the getaway truck as dirty as my brother-in-love could get it – they both love to go “mudding”! As they left the wedding, this picture pulled all of the elements of the day together – off to spend the rest of their lives with one another!

4. Michelle  ”I’ve never been to Texas so take plenty of pictures so I can live vicariously through you! How about the Alamo?”

I hope you’ll get the chance to explore Texas one day Michelle! There is so much to see and do! Texans are so patriotic and paint anything they can with their flag or the shape of their state. We weren’t in San Antonio this trip capture the Alamo, but the Fort Worth Stockyards are a must see, as well as a visit to Billy Bob’s, a famous country bar. I also encourage you to attend a Trades Day, huge outdoor flea market with fabulous finds! More pictures about these different areas still to come.

5. Shelagh “some green, green grass, leaves, something…we’re dying for it here. So sick of this snow.”

Spring is near Shelagh!! It was raining, but I really appreciated the bright green ditches and fields!

6. Crystal “The table settings!”

Each table was decorated different with western/country decor and candles from my mother-in-loves home! I was trying to be as cool as you with my shots and capture some of the background with this picture… I’ll keep practicing!!

7. stacey “bride and bridemaid’s hair please. I have no idea how I want my hair for my wedding.”

Stacey – all of the bridesmaid’s hair was worn down and they wore jeans! I thought my sister-in-love looked gorgeous with her veil, you don’t see that much anymore. Hope your wedding plans are going awesome!

9. laura ” but please take some eye candy pics! I know, it’s selfish and slightly immature, but there are few things as beautiful as a good looking man in a nice hat, button up, starched jeans and cool boots. And these specimens are plentiful in Te-has!”

Well Laura, on any given day, I would agree there would be an abundance of your description. However, I was around a lot of “rednecks” at the wedding, if I was at a cattle show or bar, there may have been more “eye candy”! I thought you’d appreciate some American country dancing – arm straight out & the woman practically getting chocked by her partners arm! There is a well dressed man in the background of the picture! The lead singer in the band was cute; you know he could sing the Texas country & red dirt tunes!

More pictures and tales to come from our trip to Texas! I think I need to do a whole entry on food, because I took lots of pictures while we were enjoying our favorite foods when we travel south!
