The Experience

A few weeks ago – I was sitting in my office at the Lethbridge College on a Friday morning. A coworker emailed and asked if I was going to the presentation. I replied – “what presentation?’

“Oh the one in…(room)…it’s something motivating” I had NO idea about this opportunity. I looked at my clock, it was in 7 minutes! Since I’m flexible and up for a little break – I concluded I could finish a project later.

I went to the theater with completely no knowledge of who was speaking and what about.  I walked in and on the desks sat a workbook.

I still hadn’t clued in by the authors name. I looked around and could see the speaker sitting down in the front row, waiting to be introduced.

Then the speaker was introduced – Dr. Joseph Michelli, PhD, author of the book The Starbucks Experience.

Oh WOW – how cool! I read his book while on vacation last December.

Joseph’s speech was fabulous. HOW he gave his presentation resonated with me even more – as I was only 7 days away from launching my own speaking career! I was a sponge – observing how he interacted with the audience, varied his voice, asked questions, presented himself, etc.

I was a real dork – the only one at our presentation – that wanted a photo with Dr. Michelli.

(Side note – Is it just me or do I look really gifted in this photo! he he…good shirt I suppose.)

When you least expect it – opportunities present themselves! It’s about the people and experiences in our life that shape us – not the material things! I didn’t have to attend this presentation, change my plan for the morning, however – I am blessed that I got to learn. When you stop learning, you stop living.

I suggest you keep your eyes and ears open to chances to personally grow. You never know what’s going on in your network or community.

One of my personal success principles, is taking advantage of personal growth opportunities.

Friday Morning Title Request!!

Good morning amazing followers!

I hope you have a fun filled, safe long weekend (To my Canadian friends! If you’re an American friend – only 1 week to go for you ;) – look forward to hearing all about the gratitude that you share with those around you!!

I have a favour this morning. I realize it’s a Friday of a long weekend, but I know that many of you are probably roaming the Internet to make the day go by before breaking loose from the office!

I was SHOCKED and overwhelmed with excitement this week all at once! You may recall that awhile ago I mentioned that I would like to launch a motivational speaking career in the future, well it’s amazing how the universe provides when you have a goal. One of my amazing friends and fantastic follower to this blog, asked me to speak at a Conference in Saskatoon this fall! I am so grateful for this unique opportunity and chance to book my second speaking engagement!

The small challenge – I need a title by TODAY at 12noon – yes, that’s about 3.5 hours away; we’re on a tight deadline! I’m hoping that you can share an idea or two with me/us! I truly believe that as you post your suggestions, it may trigger someone else to think of another idea!! THEREFORE, anyone that helps will be receiving a special gift from me for your contribution!! Thanks in advance.

John and I explored the material last night that I’m going to share during the presentation, on a quest to create a TITLE! I trust you can appreciate that the male and female minds don’t have the same idea of an action packed, beneficial workshop that will allow me to take the concepts back to their business and increase their income!

Whatever title I decide on, is going to set the pace for everything forward. I have been trained time again that I need to be myself – that if they wanted someone else’s conservative title and very business minded description, that they could have asked that individual to speak instead of me.

The business/marketing workshop that I will be giving will be a creative approach to business – branding yourself and company, to exploring how attitude and communication are the foundation of your business. It will include breakout sessions to keep the attendees engaged and able to create action steps to take away, that will allow them to apply the ideas and concepts to their business instantly. I will coach the attendees to connect with their clients, have an abundance of referrals, and most importantly increase their bottom dollar by effectively following up with the current and prospective customers. Fun and positive energy will be experienced, while reigniting their success will be the focus.

SO – I have concluded that the word AMAZING is a huge part of the life – from my outlook, to my communication, to what I leave people with! Hint, hint, I’d really love for that adjective to be part of either my title or description.

Back to THE MISSION of this morning!! I would LOVE your help creating a title for this presentation!! Why am I posting this plea you ask? I am because it’s dynamic people like you that have helped shape me and often you have a snapshot of other people, while we look at ourselves from a worm’s eye view. The title to a speech needs to be a bird’s eye view!

THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!
