5 Love Languages

Shaking the dust off an old post!

I wrote this blog post 3 years ago (originally posted March 16, 2009):

I was talking to a girlfriend about her Valentines and it dawned on me that we need to chat about the 5 Love Languages!  It’s a book that is absolutely amazing! If you’re a keener and can’t wait for me to discuss them all, visit your local bookstore or online used store OR even better borrow a copy from a friend to reveal your Love Language and your partners!  If you do anything, go on a date to the Book Store and do the quiz in the back of the book!!

My friend really wanted flowers for the special romantic Hallmark holiday and he made plans to take her for dinner! In his defense it wasn’t in his budget to do both, another lesson – we need to educate the men of the world that Costco, Wal Mart and other fab places sell flowers cheap -  bottom line – they are going to wilt away in time!!  OK – back to my point!

I quickly identified that her love language was Gifts – not a bad thing – that was just her desire for this occasion AND his was Quality Time or Act of Service  – kind of a combo!  I’m going to help you discover the 5 Love Languages shortly!  The key to an amazing relationship is effective communication – to discover what satisfies each other. I don’t have just 1 Love Language but a combination of 3 ;) and none were what my hubby anticipated for the quiz!!

NOW (February 2012):

In my Living an Amazing Life ezine this month (subscribe today), I recorded a vlog (video blog) talking about this book.

I also just discovered that you can do the QUIZ online!!

Enjoy discovering your love language(s).

Stay Amazing,

Sunday morning gratitude

Driving in Silence – on my drive last night. After attending the Canadian conference for my Swiss skin care and cosmetics business, I drove in silence. My head was spinning with ideas and I had butterflies of excitement. Instead of turning on the music, I just enjoyed the quiet time!

My amazing Husband – so blessed that he is spending a fun weekend with our son, while I work my business.

John emailed this picture to me this morning. I’d say my husband and son are thriving on their “man” weekend!

My iPhone – while showering and getting ready for my party this morning, I utilized the “iPod” app and listened to my “Amazing” playlist!!

I’m off to pamper my friend Tamara & her friends with a foot soak and diva afternoon. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Stay Amazing,

Fending for Myself

My amazing husband works for Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers. He travels lots to sales all over Canada and a few in the United States. John is very passionate about being an Auctioneer and supporting all areas of the company from Sales, Yard, and Customer Service staff. Yes, my hubby can “talk” fast . However the skill of bid calling and being an auctioneer are much more in depth than possessing the quality of being a fast speaker! If that’s the only quality they needed to posess - clearly I’d be very wealthy with my natural ability. He he…

My Texan is on the road for a couple weeks, leaving me at home to fend for myself. I’m really hard done by, I know. Not likely – I get so much done when he’s away so that I can enjoy the time even more when he’s closer to home. I miss my soul mate when he’s away – however we thrive on quality time.

I giggled so hard when I saw this cartoon! Obviously the child and pet are out of the picture for us for the time being. John has a blast when he’s on the road and that is so satisfying. My talented husband loves what he does for a living. If you love what you do – you never work another day in your life.

Hubby Recognition

I am truly blessed to have an absolutely amazing husband. He’s been doing more than his share of chores for our household and has knocked out my entire “honey-do” list!

My chef loves to cook and had dinner when I got home from my first day of my new contract. John used the new Tortilla Press he got as an early Birthday present from his parents.

To prepare our Tex-Mex inspired dinner – Fajitas:

Then last night he surprised me with this gorgeous looking and out of this world tasting Strawberry Daiquiri:

After dinner our deck, I was admiring the yard and he commented that he’d picked “some” weeds! WOW – thank you.

(Warning: please ignore our dead trees! I mean our gorgeous copper colored cedars. We’ve learned our lesson that the beautiful $15 Canadian Tire trees that Lethbridge showcases – do not survive in our backyard.)

I started squinting from my seat – trying to figure out what caught my eye.

“John, what are those 2 green piles?”
“Oh, those are the weeds I picked!” he replied with a poker straight face.
“So…why are they still in the rock bed”
“I left them for you; to see all the weeds I’d pulled!!” John commented very proudly.

Priceless…I love it!! John, I’d like to publicly recognize your hard work. Thanks babe.

Then, I looked to the other side of the yard. I snickered back, “Did you get bored of pulling weeds after you’d done an awesome job on the first side?”
Ya AND it was in the shade, which wouldn’t help my tanning!”

I told him I’d help finish the other side (which was now in the sun), but I couldn’t resist capturing this beautiful sight first.

The perfect partner – someone that makes you laugh everyday! Mission accomplished.
