My first…

Dream Board!!

As I wrote in my book Live an Amazing Life, my first dream board was posted on the back of my bedroom door at my parents. Whenever I see it, it reminds me of where I’ve come from. I wanted to share – to show you how simple your dream board can be!

To learn more about making dream boards – watch my Amaze Yourself Video 2 (that will only be available for a bit longer!) and read my Why We Dream(board) Together post!

Excerpt from the story “Vision” in my book, Live an Amazing Life:

“My first dream board consisted of four pictures. Three of the four images became mine within two years and the fourth another two years later. Here’s what those four images were:

  1. The logo for the Calgary Stampede Junior Livestock Scholarships, sponsored by BMO (a Canadian financial institute).
  2. A Red Chevrolet Cavalier.
  3. The Dodge City Community College logo.
  4. A house in a lush valley surrounded by mountains, with the word Montana included.

I went on to receive…” {Read the rest of this story & more in my book, Live an Amazing Life}

Do you have a dream board? Where do you have it posted?

Stay Amazing,

4 Days

My 4 days at the Calgary Stampede were awesome.

I promised myself this would be a fun, stress free contract! Of course no matter what I do, I give 113%. However, my self talk emphasized that I was not going to let myself get worked up about anything. I managed to succeed with only one small instance. I caught myself and excused myself from the situation and walked away to cool down.

Watch for blog entries next week, for a mini behind the scenes look at what my responsibilities were for my 4 day contract and my surprise date!

The best part of my time at the Calgary Stampede was seeing amazing friends. Wish I had pictures with everyone I saw!

Have an amazing weekend.

Live Inspired,

Almost…

done! In 6 days – a conference I’ve been coordinating for just over 3 months, will be complete. WOOHOO! Did you hear me scream?? If not – I’ll yell it again – YAHOOO!

This journey has been interesting! Last week, I made my Facebook status read:
Having an unbelievably productive 1st day of March! Excited for a conference I’ve been planning in the nooks & crannies of my day (for 3 months) to happen (& be done!!) in 12 short days. No more “side” contracts for me for awhile ;)

In November 2009 – I saw a posting for an Events Coordinator contract – to work with a committee to put on their annual Conference. I didn’t “need” anything else to do, however I love Event Planning/Coordinating - so I saw this contract – as a fix for my passion.

I bit off WAY more than I ever imagined! My experience with the Calgary Stampede and personal endeavors, has taught me that every committee has different expectations and needs. I underestimated the amount of time this contract would require. SO – life has been a bit out of balance – specifically the past 2 months – but I’ve embraced the challenge and personally grown more than words can describe.

I created a website for the committee - if you want a sneak peek at the ECE Conference (www.ececonference.ca), I’m helping coordinate.

Aside from this “side” event coordinating contract – that was supposed to be a few hours a week. I finished the full time management contract I was doing – that I talked about in the post “New Contract” AND started another fantastic contract at the Lethbridge College, that goes until June 30th.

Luckily – my schedule in the evenings and weekends can be flexible – since John is gone lots and we don’t have kids, that I need to spend time with.

Two months ago, I made my Facebook status read:
excited for the new week – so many amazing things to work on! Keeping my feet moving – I don’t want to be doing the same thing 5 years from now ;) Creating options and multiple streams of income with my hubby.”

I had so many people ask about this status update and want to know what it “meant”. Simply, it relates to our (Team Beazley’s) quest to constantly be investing our time, energy, and money into various opportunities – instead of putting all of our eggs into one basket. After this conference ends, on Saturday, March 13 – I’m going to be sitting down, taking a hard look at what adventures I commit to, and reprioritizing my life!

Last Thursday afternoon, I had a meeting with my main contact for the Conference – she brought me a gift:

These napkins absolutely made my day. You can bet that I’ll be enjoying a few of these after the Conference is done!

Have a phenomenal week – I know I will ;)

Refreshed & focused! SO pumped to attack this week. I can already visualize next Sunday, after helping a committee put on a fabulously successful conference.

Robyn

Believe

This is one of my favorite songs!!

During the Calgary Stampede, I got to see Suzie McNeil perform this song live at the Grandstand Show. It moved me and brought tears to my eyes. Suzie’s passion and energy motivates me.

This song has so much truth, I love it!

Stampede Bound

Hi!! Hope your weekend was amazing. I was able to catch up on some much needed rest and stay close to home – I didn’t leave our yard once. I was physically and mentally preparing for an exciting 12 day stint!

Tomorrow afternoon, I’m driving north for the Calgary Stampede! This will be my 6th year working for the Agriculture department over the 10 days.

For the past 5 years, I have taken on various contracts as an Event Planner, Facility Coordinator, and doing Research & Development for new programs at the Calgary Stampede.  Despite the world renown fair being most recognized for the 10 day festival, there is also lots of planning done for Here. All Year. programs also.

This year I have a few duties. I’ll kick off the week as a Facility Coordinator, focusing mainly on the Saddledome. While answering phone calls and replying to inquires for the 2009 Calgary Stampede Farm Tour.  I’ve been planning this experience from home for a few months and will see that through during the final weekend.

I started packing this weekend and getting organized. I’ll spend 12+ hour days on my feet, in the heat and on cement. I learned a very wise lesson my first year, from one of my mentors, the late Don Stewart. He encouraged us to change our shoes AND socks multiple times in a day. This amazing advice has saved my feet from many blisters.

If you’re going to take in the Calgary Stampede – please let me know – would love to see your smiling face, even if its just for a minute.

Yeehaw,
Robyn
