Almost…

done! In 6 days – a conference I’ve been coordinating for just over 3 months, will be complete. WOOHOO! Did you hear me scream?? If not – I’ll yell it again – YAHOOO!

This journey has been interesting! Last week, I made my Facebook status read:
Having an unbelievably productive 1st day of March! Excited for a conference I’ve been planning in the nooks & crannies of my day (for 3 months) to happen (& be done!!) in 12 short days. No more “side” contracts for me for awhile ;)

In November 2009 – I saw a posting for an Events Coordinator contract – to work with a committee to put on their annual Conference. I didn’t “need” anything else to do, however I love Event Planning/Coordinating - so I saw this contract – as a fix for my passion.

I bit off WAY more than I ever imagined! My experience with the Calgary Stampede and personal endeavors, has taught me that every committee has different expectations and needs. I underestimated the amount of time this contract would require. SO – life has been a bit out of balance – specifically the past 2 months – but I’ve embraced the challenge and personally grown more than words can describe.

I created a website for the committee - if you want a sneak peek at the ECE Conference (www.ececonference.ca), I’m helping coordinate.

Aside from this “side” event coordinating contract – that was supposed to be a few hours a week. I finished the full time management contract I was doing – that I talked about in the post “New Contract” AND started another fantastic contract at the Lethbridge College, that goes until June 30th.

Luckily – my schedule in the evenings and weekends can be flexible – since John is gone lots and we don’t have kids, that I need to spend time with.

Two months ago, I made my Facebook status read:
excited for the new week – so many amazing things to work on! Keeping my feet moving – I don’t want to be doing the same thing 5 years from now ;) Creating options and multiple streams of income with my hubby.”

I had so many people ask about this status update and want to know what it “meant”. Simply, it relates to our (Team Beazley’s) quest to constantly be investing our time, energy, and money into various opportunities – instead of putting all of our eggs into one basket. After this conference ends, on Saturday, March 13 – I’m going to be sitting down, taking a hard look at what adventures I commit to, and reprioritizing my life!

Last Thursday afternoon, I had a meeting with my main contact for the Conference – she brought me a gift:

These napkins absolutely made my day. You can bet that I’ll be enjoying a few of these after the Conference is done!

Have a phenomenal week – I know I will ;)

Refreshed & focused! SO pumped to attack this week. I can already visualize next Sunday, after helping a committee put on a fabulously successful conference.

First 4 hours

I’m often asked how I find time for everything in my wild life! Well – I believe this morning is a perfect example of the multi-tasking that goes on and how much fun I truly have living life.

The first 4 hours of this morning (Tuesday, March 2) in my world!

Woke up before my alarm at 6:17am

Remembering my last dream about the ECE Conference (I’ll have to tell you about this lovely “side” contract I took on).

  • A bunch of things I need to do for the event – start flying through my mind.

Opened my eyes

  • Starting writing “to do” list on a note pad beside my bed
  • Made notes for my MC speeches for the conference, while still lying in bed
  • Open Facebook  from my cell phone for my morning inspiration
    • I’m addicted to reading your Status Updates
      • (What did we do before Facebook??)

Leaped from bed and got ready

  • Loving the new hair
    • So easy to do
      • Looks completely crazy today! (I’ll share more about the “chop” soon!)

Got a make shift lunch together with leftovers (I “don’t prefer” making lunches – definitely a huge pet peeve)

  • Banana (Bread) Pudding – that could be lunch right?
  • Vegetables from Canada vs USA Gold Game party
  • Leftover sour cream, cheese, and bacon bits in bowls in the fridge
    • Grab potato to microwave for lunch (Healthy & nutritious- not really, but I didn’t feel like a shake today!)
  • Meat…mmm…not happening for this meal – as nothing is “convenient!

Notice leftover coffee sitting in pot

  • Nuke (microwave) for 1 min
  • Add milk & sugar to the go mug

Grab my Arbonne bag of makeup

  • For my 1 on 1 consultation today

Walk into our garage

  • Admire my sparkling clean car
    • Spent 3 hours Sunday working on with John
      • Hand waxing the outside to vacuuming the inside!

Turn on my car CD player to a Learn & Burn Arbonne track

  • Completed pumped up after listening to fellow Arbonne consultant train for 20 minute drive

Get to my office

  •  Turn on my iPod to my “Amazing” play list

Power Hour

  • Plow through 1staction step of my day at the Lethbridge College for my current contract
    • (I started a new one – will share more soon!)

Got brain wave – take 5 minute sidetrack

  • Type 17 points that immediately came to mind to brainstorm idea

Another power hour

  • Attack action step #2

Take break for 10 minutes

Finish action step #2

  • 30 mins into 3rd Power Hour – phone call interrupts momentum
    • Start action step #3
      • Flying through list today!

Decide to throw this blog post together

  • For sheer entertainment
    • Probably for myself more than anything
      • I can look back & laugh at how crazy I am later!

Back to reality!! Lots more to attack today – the day is young ;)

Here’s to a productive, amazingly fun day.

Why We Dream(board) Together

HE Said (John):

Have you ever wondered why some guys have all the luck? A beautiful woman, a great job, big house, the time to go on vacation or getaways, it seems like they have it all. Just lucky right? What if you could discover a way to get what you want, anything at all?

Well the first step to getting what you want, is to know what you want. A great way to help define exactly what you want is to create a Dream Board. That is a poster board or large piece of paper with images and words of your specific dreams, goals, and aspirations.

SHE Said (Robyn):

Dream Boards can be whatever you want them to be. It can consist of pictures, cut outs, models, words or any image that you want. As Jack Canfield talks about in his book, The Success Principles, be specific. If you want to go on a vacation, then research resorts in the country you want to visit and find an image of the specific resort you plan to visit. Your mind doesn’t know what you want; it just goes after what you visualize.

HE Said:

You should put this dream board in a place where you see it when you wake up and before you go to bed. I put mine on the mirror in my bathroom between my sink and my wife’s sink, we didn’t share very well the first year of our marriage so two sinks was on our mental dream board before we built this house. We put it on the bathroom mirror so we can both look at it while we get ready in the morning and before we go to bed at night.

The mind is a very powerful tool and will work towards these goals and thoughts even while you sleep. In the Napoleon Hill’s book Think and Grow Rich, Hill said, “If you can conceive it and believe it, you can achieve it.” That book was written in 1937 and only came as a result of twenty years of research on the wealthiest men in the world. If it worked for the wealthiest men in the world I figured, what the heck, I could give it a try. Believe it or not I was excited to work on this dream board based on a few books that had promoted the idea. I told Robyn that I wanted to make a dream board and she was so excited to work on this project with me. It made a great date activity and we shared lots of laughs and even scratched our heads at some of the things that each other was cutting out to put on the board. And fellas, I also found out that this type of quality time is well rewarded.

SHE Said:

Anyone can make a dream board! I had the most fun creating my most recent dream board with my husband and partner in life, John. This process allowed me to discover more specifically what John desires, wants out of life, and specific goals he wants to attain – that he hadn’t communicated.

The first two dream boards that I made, I put in my office; however our masterpiece is pasted on the mirror in our master bathroom. We are able to look at it every day -when we’re home! John and I both travel lots – for work and pleasure. As an Auctioneer John is gone more than I am, so our time together is measured by quality, not quantity. This schedule works for us, as we both love to experience new culture and see the world. Having our Dream Board in a shared space, allows us to visualize our joint goals often and do actions that get us closer to achieving them together.

July 2009 while I was away, I received a call from my husband. “I want to make a Dream Board with you!” My jaw dropped – were my ears dirty? I was completely shocked. I had constantly dripped my positive energy and dream big mindset on him for over four years and did NOT see this coming at me. This amazing desire hit me like a train – I was overwhelmed with emotion – it “may” have been around that time of the month and I was overly sensitive and emotional! However, I knew deep inside that I had been attracting this moment for three or five years. When you get married to your soul mate, everything is perfect the day you get hitched. Then reality sets in, challenges face you, bills are due, and life blinds your dreams – when you least expect it. As a new wife, I constantly tried to keep our connection fresh and intellectual. John not only accepted, but instigated the energy I was craving.

HE Said:

Only people who are serious about improving their current living conditions or achieving success should invest their time in looking on the Internet or through magazines for pictures that depict their dreams or things they want to achieve or obtain. It can take as long or short as you want and should be specific. My wife and I spent about an hour going through magazines and cutting out pictures and printing pictures from the Internet. The hardest part was actually sitting down and doing it; once we started we had a lot of fun and learned a few things about what each other’s dreams were.

SHE Said:

I had to laugh because it seemed that everything John picked to put on our board – was a material item. While I was selecting lots of the things I wanted to experience. My husband spent hours looking on the company websites to find images of the exact items he plans to own – to name a few, his private jet, and custom motor coach.

HE Said:

I put the logo for Rosetta Stone on my board because I wanted to learn Spanish, being from Texas I had the basics down but wanted to become fluent. As a result of my dream board I now have Rosetta Stone and am still working to improve my Español.

SHE Said:

Examples of what I included:

- A Copper West logo (brand of a company) that we own that John and I are re-launching.

- A woman with the face cut out wearing a gorgeous red strapless gown, which I plan to wear to my car presentation, when our Arbonne team promotes in the near future.

- A camera and the phrase, “Pursue Your Passions”: Photography; which represents my desire to take a class on taking photos.

- A written list of different goals that I didn’t have images to represent yet.

THEY Said:

Many items we included – we chose together. A picture of an Austin Stone style bungalow home with an outdoor swimming pool represents our desire to have a home in Texas and Alberta. That way, we can travel back and forth to spend time with both of our families.

HE Said:

Just remember your mind is the only limiting factor, so dream big. Be specific. Put it where you will see it daily, and most importantly have fun with it. If you have a partner to share your life with you should build your dream board together. This is a great way for guys to communicate what we are thinking, since we are not always the most eloquent in expressing our thoughts, and ladies back me up on this, women are not mind readers. As we learned early in our marriage it is important for both of us to be on the same page, headed in the same direction. (But that is another story in itself) We can achieve more together than we ever could apart.

THEY Say:

If you know what you want, and work towards it, you can Dream your way to the Good Life.

Debuting our first “She Said/He Said” blog entry from my fabulous husband and I! (This post follows – Dreaming).

First YouTube Video

Thanks to my fabulous friend Laura for recording part of my presentation at my inaugural motivational speaking engagement. It’s amazing what you can capture from a digital camera!  Thank you Raven for creating this sneak peek to share with you – my wonderful friends. I really appreciate your support and hope you enjoy…

Launched!

I had an extremely successful first speaking engagement! I was honored to motivate 27 women for just over an hour on Saturday. It took place in a small town in Alberta – where my wonderful friend Deanne coordinates and organized the 10th Annual Breton Women’s Conference. It was the perfect place to start my speaking career – intimate and connecting with women of similar country roots.

I really enjoyed getting to talk to some of the guests following my presentation – to give them a hug and hear their appreciation and inspirational moments.

I was blessed to have my Mom and gorgeous friend Justine travel up with me to witness my first speaking engagement. My fabulous friend Laura also drove a couple hours to come watch – thanks for recording. My awesome friend Deanne, the organizer, had me shedding tears of happiness before I even started. Thank you ladies for your priceless support.

New Contract

Have you been reading about my references to my new contract and had no idea what I was talking about? I wanted to update you on where in the world I’ve been spending my days.

I’m currently doing an amazing contract at Lethbridge College as the Health Program Coordinator for Allied Health & Wellness. My portfolio consists of about 15 unique sections that cover everything from EMS to Unit Clerk Training, LC LOGOcommunity workshops to First Aid & CPR training, and even supporting the Nursing Refresher program. I work directly with phenomenal instructors and have had an overwhelming amount of support and assistance. I’m on a steep learning curve, but am embracing the opportunity to learn new skills and broaden my network. I am covering the extended leave for a lady, so its a perfect length for me to step outside my comfort zone.

If you keep doing, what you’re doing – you’re going to keep getting the same results. I had got stuck in a rut and was looking for an exciting challenge to add to my resume. I knew that I needed to do something out of the ordinary to move toward more of my life goals and business milestones.

This position has been a fabulous chance for me to develop 2 skills in specific that I’ve been wanting to master (that might be a long shot – improve would be a fabulous start!).

Routine – I’m a very spontaneous person! Surprising, I know ;) I love being able to pick up and do anything – whenever I want. Well that can also be dangerous!! I get sidetracked easily and that affects my time management. To my family and friends surprise – I’m enjoying a routine and have been experiencing much more productive. There is never a dull moment in my day and I’m still fly by the seat of my pants to tackle all of the fun and obstacles that come my way.

Time Management – I get up even more excited to tackle each new day. I now kick off my morning getting all dressed up – which is different than my comfy clothes and even PJ’s I’ve sported in my home office for years. I LOVE wearing my business clothes and fabulous shoes more. I work in power sessions now – so that I can accomplish my personal entrepreneurial goals.

Taking this contract until February, has allowed John and I to realize additional, consistent (so different than being self-employed!) income for a couple months. However – the best reward thus far, has been the personal growth and balance I’ve experienced. I know that God provided me this priceless experience for a reason.

It hasn’t been all head down butt up – I’ve had lots of fun too! I decided that participating in the Lethbridge Whoop-Up Days Parade would be a unique way to gain free publicity for our programs. So I took one morning with my coworker Morgan and drove our EMS training ambulance in the convoy!

RobynLCAmbulance LCAmbulance

I’m grateful that I can still build my Arbonne business, move Copper West forward, and have an amazing marriage alongside this contract. Those with a full schedule get more done, I truly believe.

I’m loving life even more. When you love what you do – you never work another day in your life!

As a couple that encourage one another to strive for more, we live by the motto “When you stop learning, you stop living.”

What new skills are YOU learning today?

Preparing my Signature

I’ve been working a lot on my “signature speech“ for my upcoming speaking engagements this fall! Anytime the creative juices start flowing – I focus all my energy on writing, practicing, and visualizing what the final product is going to look like. I work in multiple places, wherever I’m comfortable and focused! The amazing pink iPod my sweet friends gave me, has really came in handy to cut the background noise and distractions out from around me. The selfie below was captured at the Calgary Airport, after I dropped John off one day. When you’re in the groove, you have to take advantage! I look forward to recording some of my material, so you can experience my message and passion for life.
