Just thought you should all be aware that Friday January 8th is …

I love it!! Insight on this national holiday.I just so happen to be doing an Arbonne Foot Soak and Wellness Session with 40 youth girls from our church Friday evening. After the excitement and a house to myself (hubby will be gone doing a presentation) – I’m quite sure that I’ll be able to celebrate this holiday with a bottle of Shiraz.

Sweetness

When my marvelous man is on the road working (and I’m left Fending for Myself) – I find exciting ways to entertain myself.

I ordered a piece of cheesecake to go from the Cheesecake Cafe (surprise surprise, as you know from my Perfect Long Weekend) one afternoon this summer.

Cheesecake to Go

I went to a local park and took in the gorgeous weather.

How do you have fun alone?

Grey’s Fan

I’m a HUGE Grey’s Anatomy fan! It all started back in 2005. I was at my in-loves house watching Desperate Housewives on a Sunday night with my soul mate. It premiered just after and I quickly became a Grey’s Anatomy junkie. I even have my Mom & Dad watching it and we debrief after most episodes!

When I watch my favorite shows, I am 100% present. I jump, squeal, and laugh at all of the excitement. I’ve been told that watching my reactions can be as exciting as the show! He he…
Well…I happened to find a sneak preview of the Grey’s Anatomy season premiere that airs September 24th. Thought I’d share it with you – in case you’re as addicted as me!

W.I.N.E.

My friend Louise and I try to get together every month to discuss our personal and business adventures. Louise and I met a few years ago – when our Passion Parties careers crossed paths. A year ago, I made the difficult decision to finish that chapter of my life and focus on my Arbonne business. Despite being part of different home based businesses now, we still love to witness each others empires grow. Our schedules don’t allow us to meet as often and consistently as we’d hope, but when we get together – the wine, ideas, and fun flows freely. It’s almost like our own personal counseling session – where we coach each other to strive for new goals and share success tips.

Louise&Robyn

Since we both live full lives and have network marketing businesses, many of our diva dates are for business related appointments – consisting of home parties, appointments, and training meetings! Although we both “party” at night and on weekends for our businesses – it really doesn’t feel like work because we love what we do – however we both wanted an excuse to network with other dynamic divas off the clock. In July over a glass of vino, we decided to launch a monthly evening with our female friends. We concluded it should be enjoyed with wine and quickly came up a suitable acronym!

W.I.N.E.
Women of Intelligence Networking with Elegance

Last night, we hosted the first event at my home. It was fantastic – 7 women socializing, creating and rekindling friendships, and enjoying a girl’s night out.

Amanda&Louise   Cheryl

Connie&Nicky   Tracy&Robyn

We enjoyed a Crepe Bar and Asiago & Artichoke Dip (truly sinful!) as snacks.

Thanks to my marvelous husband for getting the house and dessert ready!! You’re truly amazing. Here John is putting wine charms on our glasses ;)

Next month – we hope to all bring a friend or two and expand our W.I.N.E. Club for more ladies to enjoy.

If you’re in southern Alberta and would like to join us the 3rd Wednesday of the month - please let us know. We created a Facebook group to share our message and invitations at W.I.N.E. Club.

As an individual you can have ideas – but as a T.E.A.M. (Together Everyone Achieves More) the creativity explodes!

Bach”ette”ing It!

I realize the title of this is not a real word – but it works!! I wanted to make the phrase “baching it” feminine.

Clearly, Chef Beazley is out of town. I had perogies and a beer for supper at 8pm! Strange combo I realize (and no I’m not ___ & having weird cravings).

I went to Costco after work. I’ve heard it called the $100 store – quite appropriate. When you walk in the door, there is a good chance you’re coming out with more than you went in with and dropped at least $100.

I LOVE Costco…just to wonder around, day dream and explore. Today however, I went in for a purpose. To get John’s birthday present!! Shh…

With my luck, the food sampling stations were open and serving! And I was hungry for a snack…

One demonstrator was giving Cheese Perogies served with Heluva Good! French Onion Dip. Quite delightful!

The old me would instantly pickup the 2 items to make this when I got home – if I really enjoyed. However, the new me, thinks about first and doesn’t usually allow myself to spontaneously buy. It was my lucky day though, because John had treated himself to his favorite dip – Heluva Good! French Onion Dip when he went grocery shopping this week. There was a just a bit in the bottom of the container. Therefore, I only had to buy 1 item and I convinced myself that my Yankee (US) friends that are coming up next week would enjoy trying something unique!!

Bachette Meal

Oh the life as a Bachelorette! Good thing John’s home tomorrow – my solo diet doesn’t help the New Me. I can only imagine what John’s going to cook this weekend. Mmm…

What do you collect?

Do you have a prized collection of something? (Please share with us!)

I’ve never “collected” anything long enough to talk about and my husband refuses to let me become a pack rat (like my ___   … no comment, don’t want to get into trouble or bring on a baby…oops did I give out a hint!)

However – I think I have a new interest…it differs greatly from what I used to think.

A bit of background information: My mother drug me (kicking and screaming…of course) to the store to register for wedding gifts nearly three years ago. She had a mission, that she never disclosed before entering the store. My sweet Mom was determined to get us registered for crystal stemware and fine china, that she could proudly tell my extended family we would love to add to our life. I nicely told her that we were not interested in these two luxuries. We preferred realistic, use everyday items that have both class and durability. You may not know this yet, but I’m a klutz, therefore these items had to withstand my graceful actions. Who won you ask? My Mom – that day!

My extremely involved husband was keen to see what we’d registered for, so I showed him online. He started laughing! I couldn’t understand what was so entertaining. My man replied, “We are registered for the exact same pattern that your Mom AND Grandma have!” Yes, yes we were.

Inside joke. If you don’t know where something is in our home, particularly our kitchen. John asks himself,
“Where can it be found in “Ronda’s (my Mom)” house?”

We ended up removing these specific items from our registry the next day. Not out of spite or to be disrespectful for my Mom’s time. It was simply a realization that John and I wanted to discover our own taste.

A discussion that my darling hubby and I have quite often (sorry if I’m offending you), is our pet peeve of those that save their fine china and special crystal for special occasions. To us, everyday is a special occasion and as you’ve probably read in other posts, we toast a few days a week and say “Here’s to ___ (Tuesday, life, new contract, nice weather…whatever)!” We were blessed with amazing gift cards for our wedding and picked out new dinnerware. We ended up buying a wicked box set of china – that has a simple silver circle around the outside and we put it in the dishwasher! We also found a box set of wine glasses at Costo. ACTION STEP:John and I’s goal was to use our a gorgeous white platinum bone china set and fabulous huge crystal wine goblets at least weekly.

Valentines Day 2009

We have stuck by our word. This picture was captured on a Saturday afternoon, in the middle of a cleaning bee that my amazing hubby and I were having! Pull out your china and crystal and use them tonight! Why not?

Oh, back to the reason why I started writing this blog entry! I got slightly sidetracked ;)

On Saturday morning, I received this fabulous email from my creative, thoughtful friend Laura:

“In case you hadn’t been on PW today — these reminded me of us and I love them! I’m trying to stop the internal fight with myself to buy them… OMG they are beautiful! http://thepioneerwoman.com/homeandgarden/2009/06/china-check-tracy-porter-vivre/

I was laughing SO hard at this point…THEN…I clicked the link

pioneerwomanchinacheck

(Be sure to check out PW’s blog – to see the gorgeous pictures she took of her Tracy Porter “Vivre” Dinnerware)

I have fallen in LOVE with these dishes. They are perfect for a diva date or just because…you can always find a use for these (I’m talking myself into collecting something)! Mmm…hint, hint, nudge, nudge John – you’re always looking for gift giving ideas (love your amazing wife)!

To a fabulous day (thanks Laura for the smile!),

Improve Your Assets

WOW – what would a woman do without Spanx?? I’ll be honest I didn’t run out and buy a pair when Oprah featured Sara and her amazing invention. It took my mother telling me that she thought I should “borrow” hers for an occasion! YIKES – guess my cellulite caught her attention. Thank you Mom – that’s why I love you – you’re honest, amazing, and one of my best friends! We laugh because my sister and I have been known to borrow the communal Spanx! I have been researching to get my own – I’m trying to decide which style matches my wardrobe, to maximize the asset improvement!!

I really enjoyed reading this story about the woman entrepreneur! SUCCESS magazine is one of my favorite monthly reads – subscribe to their e-newsletters if you like what you read! Follow your dreams friends – dream big and pursue what you’re passionate about! Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Excerpt from the email I received – Seeds of SUCCESS – April 21, 2009‏:

“Sara Blakely wanted her bottom to look better in white pants. Her idea to reinvent hosiery by making it footless and invisible turned into Spanx, a $300 million company. How can you turn your next idea into a million-dollar business? Follow Sara’s advice for success:

Differentiate yourself. “Whether it’s in the marketplace or in those first few seconds you meet somebody—whatever it is—if you don’t know how it has been done before, you’re almost guaranteed to do it differently.”

First impressions mean everything. “If you make someone laugh or smile in the first five to 10 seconds, you might get another 10 seconds.”

Be persistent. Sara Blakely worked hard to win over manufacturers and prospective buyers who had never seen anything like Spanx.

Visualize your goals. “Take a mental snapshot of what success looks like for you,” she says. Keeping that vision of success in mind will help you through the tough times.

Pay attention to opportunities. “There are a million ways to improve everything around us,” Blakely says, and making just one improvement could result in your million-dollar idea.

Hire your weaknesses. Focus on your strengths, and hire well-qualified people to handle the rest.

Read more about Sara Blakely in this month’s issue of SUCCESS.”

I also enjoyed checking out the Spanx & the Sara Blakely Foundation websites!

Double Star Birthday

My 26th Birthday was fabulous!

I coined this particular celebration as my Double Star Birthday! I’ve heard that when you turn the year of the date of your Birthday – it is your Star Birthday. For example, I was born on April 13th, so when I turned 13, I celebrated my Star Birthday. I really don’t recall my 13th Birthday and decided that I was having my own party and called it my Double Star Birthday. I was also a bit envious that John’s going to celebrate his “Star Birthday” in July of this year and I am always looking for a theme for his parties, so I wanted to recreate mine!!

Monday morning started off with a bang! I woke up just before 5am, I had a big day ahead! I packed, got myself ready for the day and then my husband and I left my parents. I headed south, he headed north – absence makes the heart grow fonder in our relationship! I made the 3 hour drive south and even got to watch the sunrise!

 sunrise

I had an interview in Lethbridge on Monday morning that I came back for! It went fabulous and I’m starting a new contract this morning – very excited! More details to come soon…

I enjoyed Edo Japan for lunch – mmm…one of my favorite Fast Food joints! Then I stopped at Starbucks, because I deserved it!! he he…it was my Birthday I told myself!! I randomly picked up two drinks at Starbucks, I love being spontaneous! I told the diva that I wanted two different iced drinks - I came out with an Iced Carmel Frappuccino and an Iced Passion Tea Lemonade!

 starbucks-bday

With Starbucks in hand, I headed to get a pedicure with my fabulous friend, Jodie! I got the one with all the whip cream and calories!! We enjoyed gossiping and catching up. I just love what an amazing job the Vietnamese divas do to my feet! If you aren’t addicted to getting pedicures – you’re missing out!

It all starts with the famous line “Pick a Color” (if you’re an addict like me - you can hear the Vietnamese voice spouting that off!! )

 colors

Its a combination of Christmas and Spring! I get all excited like its Christmas morning and I get to open up my gifts and on the other hand get so pumped about sandal wearing weather – the big decision – what color this time??

pedicure

Normally I get my toenails painted one solid color, however the divas told us that it was in style to do a colored french with design instead! SO voila…we had to do what was cool!

blue-toes

Jodie picked blue!

pink-toes

I picked pink!

Then my friends Amberley and Sean made me supper! Fabulous salmon, a really thoughtful, useful gift, and amazing fellowship!!

I had SUCH an amazing Birthday, I’m SO lucky to be surrounded by such a beautiful network of friends and family!

I was overwhelmed by the phone calls, emails, and Facebook posts with amazing wishes and energy! Each comment made me smile, as I reflected on my relationship with the person that wrote them. I realize that everyone makes a choice whether or not to take action to each Birthday announcement/reminder on the side of the Facebook page. Shockingly enough there are some days that I don’t sign in or may really quickly and don’t make it a priority to share my positive spirit with each person that is celebrating a special day.

I did notice something very interesting while enjoying my Birthday wishes. I observed that a large percentage of the messages used the word “great”!! Personally, I use very flowery adjectives to describe my mood and emotions! There is nothing wrong with this word, I am not judging; it just isn’t an adjective I use very much! I think I am going to compile all of my Birthday wishes and report back with a synopsis from my research, I’m curious to know the actual percentage of people used “great” – stay tuned!

Thanks for helping make my Double Star Birthday amazing!!

5 Love Languages

I was talking to a girlfriend about her Valentines and it dawned on me that we need to chat about the 5 Love Languages!  It’s a book and absolutely amazing! If you’re a keener and can’t wait for me to discuss them all, visit your local bookstore or online used store OR even better borrow a copy from a friend to reveal your Love Language and your partners!  If you do anything, go on a date to the Book Store and do the quiz in the back of the book!!

My friend really wanted flowers for the special romantic Hallmark holiday and he made plans to take her for dinner! In his defence it wasn’t in his budget to do both, another lesson – we need to educate the men of the world that Costco, Wal Mart and other fab places sell flowers cheap -  bottom line – they are going to wilt away in time!!  OK – back to my point!

I quickly identified that her love languagee was Gifts – not a bad thing – that was just her desire for this occasion AND his was Quality Time or Act of Service  – kind of a combo!  I’m going to help you discover the 5 Love Languages shortly!  The key to an amazing relationship is effective communication – to discover what satisfies each other. I don’t have just 1 Love Language but a combination of 3 ;) and none were what my hubby anticipated for the quiz!!

Mom Song!

I would LOVE to have 4 children one day to leave as a legacy and would be so excited if God blessed me with a set of twins! For the time being I am VERY excited to become an Aunt this year!

I truly believe that we’re all at the right place, at the right time! I’m in Abbotsford, BC with my husband this week. I’ve been working from the hotel during the day while he works. While eating the fabulous complimentary continental breakfast this morning, the TV was tuned into 100 Huntley Street – not a channel I would often watch! The following video was shown and I thought it was awesome and I wanted to share with you!! I congratulate all the mothers out there and look forward to joining your club one day. I realize that is almost an oxymoron, after listening to this song, but I am truly excited for the challenge!! To MOM’s!
