Double Star Birthday

My 26th Birthday was fabulous!

I coined this particular celebration as my Double Star Birthday! I’ve heard that when you turn the year of the date of your Birthday – it is your Star Birthday. For example, I was born on April 13th, so when I turned 13, I celebrated my Star Birthday. I really don’t recall my 13th Birthday and decided that I was having my own party and called it my Double Star Birthday. I was also a bit envious that John’s going to celebrate his “Star Birthday” in July of this year and I am always looking for a theme for his parties, so I wanted to recreate mine!!

Monday morning started off with a bang! I woke up just before 5am, I had a big day ahead! I packed, got myself ready for the day and then my husband and I left my parents. I headed south, he headed north – absence makes the heart grow fonder in our relationship! I made the 3 hour drive south and even got to watch the sunrise!

 sunrise

I had an interview in Lethbridge on Monday morning that I came back for! It went fabulous and I’m starting a new contract this morning – very excited! More details to come soon…

I enjoyed Edo Japan for lunch – mmm…one of my favorite Fast Food joints! Then I stopped at Starbucks, because I deserved it!! he he…it was my Birthday I told myself!! I randomly picked up two drinks at Starbucks, I love being spontaneous! I told the diva that I wanted two different iced drinks - I came out with an Iced Carmel Frappuccino and an Iced Passion Tea Lemonade!

 starbucks-bday

With Starbucks in hand, I headed to get a pedicure with my fabulous friend, Jodie! I got the one with all the whip cream and calories!! We enjoyed gossiping and catching up. I just love what an amazing job the Vietnamese divas do to my feet! If you aren’t addicted to getting pedicures – you’re missing out!

It all starts with the famous line “Pick a Color” (if you’re an addict like me - you can hear the Vietnamese voice spouting that off!! )

 colors

Its a combination of Christmas and Spring! I get all excited like its Christmas morning and I get to open up my gifts and on the other hand get so pumped about sandal wearing weather – the big decision – what color this time??

pedicure

Normally I get my toenails painted one solid color, however the divas told us that it was in style to do a colored french with design instead! SO voila…we had to do what was cool!

blue-toes

Jodie picked blue!

pink-toes

I picked pink!

Then my friends Amberley and Sean made me supper! Fabulous salmon, a really thoughtful, useful gift, and amazing fellowship!!

I had SUCH an amazing Birthday, I’m SO lucky to be surrounded by such a beautiful network of friends and family!

I was overwhelmed by the phone calls, emails, and Facebook posts with amazing wishes and energy! Each comment made me smile, as I reflected on my relationship with the person that wrote them. I realize that everyone makes a choice whether or not to take action to each Birthday announcement/reminder on the side of the Facebook page. Shockingly enough there are some days that I don’t sign in or may really quickly and don’t make it a priority to share my positive spirit with each person that is celebrating a special day.

I did notice something very interesting while enjoying my Birthday wishes. I observed that a large percentage of the messages used the word “great”!! Personally, I use very flowery adjectives to describe my mood and emotions! There is nothing wrong with this word, I am not judging; it just isn’t an adjective I use very much! I think I am going to compile all of my Birthday wishes and report back with a synopsis from my research, I’m curious to know the actual percentage of people used “great” – stay tuned!

Thanks for helping make my Double Star Birthday amazing!!

3: Swept off my feet by a Texan

I’ve always had a travel bug and was excited to explore Texas at every opportunity! I had visited with some new girlfriends about taking a trip to San Antonio for a weekend. The date was set, so I researched what the attractions were and looked into accommodation that fit into my college budget! I was so excited to head south the first weekend of October.

Then conflicting commitments came up for my travelling partners! However, I was bound and determined not to let that affect my plan – I was going with or without!

During one of my riveting American government study sessions with Mr. Texas, my upcoming adventure to San Antonio came up! John expressed interest in travelling down with me for the weekend! WOW – I was surprised and excited, a new male companion didn’t faze me. I was an extremely independent woman that had just spent the past two school years travelling with a team of guys. I looked forward to the trip – to have someone familiar with Texas to accompany me and make the drive more fun!

I was packed and ready to go! John asked me to meet him at one of the dorm parking lots where we left his vehicle. He was insistent that his car was out of sight of his roommates, because he was a very private person and it was none of their business what he did on the weekends (I later learned that it was very out of character for John to be this spontaneous and travel with a woman!). I wasn’t concerned, my roommate, a couple girlfriends, and my parents knew that I was going on a road trip with John!

Oh just thinking about this road trip sends butterflies through me!! To be continued…

Texas Wishes

Before I left for Texas, just over a month ago – I ran a contest for photo ideas in my Texas Bound post! I am going to debut a few more pictures from our trip and hopefully satisfy a few requests. Thanks ladies for your input and for following my blog!

1. Lacy Rowan “pics of nature blossoming”

This is probably one of my favorite pictures from our trip – I love Bluebonnets (official Texas flower)! Have a fabulous time in Texas Lacy – showing off Zane!

2. Deanne  ”I suggest that you start taking creative pictures….John at his old school playground, rustic ranch pictures, A day in the life of the Beazley Family (Texas Style). ”

Fabulous idea Deanne, thanks for the tips! I tried a couple of your setting ideas, but picked this one to report back to you ;) John loves to cook and is all about presentation in everything he prepares. This quaint store was full of condiments that you could try and was decorated with a country, western flair! John was so much fun to watch explore and he kept saying – oh, try this one or oh, look at this!

3. Kattie  ”happy couple in a special way. Like taking a picture of the groom when everyone is looking at the bride or taking a picture during a special moment in their new life together.”

I had a lot of fun with this one! I tried to get their faces when the bride was coming down the aisle and the groom’s reaction, but that didn’t turn out. However – a memory that will stay with me forever was the fact that my sister-in-love wanted the getaway truck as dirty as my brother-in-love could get it – they both love to go “mudding”! As they left the wedding, this picture pulled all of the elements of the day together – off to spend the rest of their lives with one another!

4. Michelle  ”I’ve never been to Texas so take plenty of pictures so I can live vicariously through you! How about the Alamo?”

I hope you’ll get the chance to explore Texas one day Michelle! There is so much to see and do! Texans are so patriotic and paint anything they can with their flag or the shape of their state. We weren’t in San Antonio this trip capture the Alamo, but the Fort Worth Stockyards are a must see, as well as a visit to Billy Bob’s, a famous country bar. I also encourage you to attend a Trades Day, huge outdoor flea market with fabulous finds! More pictures about these different areas still to come.

5. Shelagh “some green, green grass, leaves, something…we’re dying for it here. So sick of this snow.”

Spring is near Shelagh!! It was raining, but I really appreciated the bright green ditches and fields!

6. Crystal “The table settings!”

Each table was decorated different with western/country decor and candles from my mother-in-loves home! I was trying to be as cool as you with my shots and capture some of the background with this picture… I’ll keep practicing!!

7. stacey “bride and bridemaid’s hair please. I have no idea how I want my hair for my wedding.”

Stacey – all of the bridesmaid’s hair was worn down and they wore jeans! I thought my sister-in-love looked gorgeous with her veil, you don’t see that much anymore. Hope your wedding plans are going awesome!

9. laura ” but please take some eye candy pics! I know, it’s selfish and slightly immature, but there are few things as beautiful as a good looking man in a nice hat, button up, starched jeans and cool boots. And these specimens are plentiful in Te-has!”

Well Laura, on any given day, I would agree there would be an abundance of your description. However, I was around a lot of “rednecks” at the wedding, if I was at a cattle show or bar, there may have been more “eye candy”! I thought you’d appreciate some American country dancing – arm straight out & the woman practically getting chocked by her partners arm! There is a well dressed man in the background of the picture! The lead singer in the band was cute; you know he could sing the Texas country & red dirt tunes!

More pictures and tales to come from our trip to Texas! I think I need to do a whole entry on food, because I took lots of pictures while we were enjoying our favorite foods when we travel south!

2: Swept off my feet by a Texan

Class started and the socializing began! I crossed paths with my new eye candy quite a few times and flirted every opportunity I had. It was hard work – as a virgin to living in Texas, looking good was hard work! The heat in August and early September was over 100F (40+C)! As a Canadian diva, with little experience living in the heat, I had to quickly adjust to sprinting from an air conditioning area to the next cool place and still look fabulous!

A couple days into the new semester I told my judging coach that I didn’t “prefer” my mandatory American Government class. To my surprise he told me that Mr. Amazing Texan could probably help me, since he loved those courses enough to take a minor in Political Science!

Lucky! I was thrilled to spend some quality time with my new study partner! After a couple weeks of our social circles and study time crossing, one of my judging teammates confronted me!

“So I hear that you like John!”

Shocked, I quickly blurted out, “NO! Where did you get that idea?”

“John mentioned it and as roommates we have noticed you’ve been spending lots of time together!” he explained.

I was petrified! How on earth could my game be so obvious right out the gate? My snappy response denying this feeling, was because I didn’t want to stop browsing the Texas men selection ;) Hmm…I quickly decided that I wasn’t settling for the first Texan that thought he could figure me out that fast! What was it with Texans that think they can figure this dynamic Alberta diva out that quick?

I took a different strategy for the game; however I didn’t stop spending time with him!

Til next time…oh the next part is very exciting!
